Anti-Sexual Harassment Training for UK employers

Proactively prevent harassment and stay compliant with the Worker Protection Act 2023

On 26 October 2024, the new Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 came into force.

The Act introduces a new positive legal obligation on employers to take reasonable steps to protect their workers from sexual harassment. This extends the employer’s responsibility to take preventative measures to ensure their employees are kept reasonably safe from Sexual Harassment at Work.

This new legislation extends the employer responsibility to safeguard their employees proactively against sexual harassment in the workplace and so getting it right is vital and JourneyHR can help you ensure that you are compliant.

Why is Anti-Sexual Harassment Training important, and what steps do you need to take?

It is essential that employers understand what the new duty entails and what the guidance says is required in order to properly safeguard employees and avoid potential liability.

The Act places the responsibility squarely on organisations to take proactive measures, rather than reacting to crises as they arise.

As an organisation, you’ll need to demonstrate the preventative steps you've implemented training your managers and your employees about what harassment is and what to do if you are a witness to it or experience it at work.
